The Giller Prize
The Giller Prize annually recognizes the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English. The winning author receives $25,000 and additional marketing assistance for their book.
The prize was established by Jack Giller, in memory of his wife, literary journalist Doris Giller. He was assisted by Mordecai Richler, Alice Munro, and David Staines.
Starting in 1994, winners are selected by a jury of three people who also provide a shortlist of honorees. Jury members have included Alice Munro, Mordecai Richler, Alistair MacLeod, Charlotte Gray, Margaret Atwood, and Jane Urquhart.
