Margaret A. Edwards Award
The Margaret A. Edwards Award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of an author who has written books popular with teenagers. Sponsored by the School Library Journal, it is given each year by the Young Adult Library Services Association.
The winners are nominated by teenagers and young adult librarians. A committee selects the final winner. The winner must be alive and have published a book within the past five years.
The award is named for a former library administrator who pioneered library outreach services for teenagers.
Winners receive a certificate and $2,000.
