Richard Zacks

Richard Zacks, born 1955, is a journalist with a flair for the unusual. He graduated from the University of Michigan and the Columbia Journalism School and launched a career that included writing for Atlantic, Time, and The Village Voice.

In 1994, he began writing books of unusual nature, rooting out primary sources on sex, business, crime, art, science, and medicine through the ages. He then went on to research pirates, the subject of his most recent book.
