Glennette Tilley Turner

Glennette Tilley Turner is as much a historian as she is an author. Her research delves into the Underground Railroad-a passion that was sparked by her discovery of a former station near her home. She has spent 30 years uncovering information about the Underground Railroad in Illinois and points further west than had been previously studied.

Turner was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and now lives in Illinois. She majored in English at Lake Forest College and later earned a master's degree in history and juvenile literature. She was recently awarded the Studs Terkel Humanities Award for her work.
