Zilpha Keatley Snyder, the author of 40 books, has been delighting children with her stories, poetry and picture books since 1964. A three-time Newbery Award winner, Zilpha Snyder is the creator of such classic stories as The Egypt Game and The Witches of Worm.

Born in 1927, Zilpha Snyder says that she first began making up stories as a young girl, but didn't start writing them down until after she had married, had children, and taught school for a few years. Her first story was built upon a dream she had when she was 12 years old.
