Paul Sloane
Paul Sloane is far more likely to characterize himself as a thinker than as a writer.
In fact, writing falls far down the list of Sloane's accomplishments. An engineer who graduated with first class honors from Cambridge, Sloane has spent most of his career in the computers industry working for the Ministry of Defense, IBM, Ashton Tate, and Mathsoft. In 2001, he became CEO of a British software company.
Along the way, Sloane became interested in lateral thinking-thinking that goes beyond the obvious and forces the thinker to take different approaches. It was this interest that inspired him to write a series of books containing lateral thinking puzzles.
Sloane is also a motivational speaker who incorporates his puzzles into talks on lateral thinking.
