Daniel Silva
Daniel Silva was a successful journalist with vast experience at United Press International (UPI) and CNN when he decided to give it all up to become a novelist.
It helped that he had the support and encouragement of his wife and fellow journalist, Jamie Gangel. It also helped that his books quickly became bestsellers and he was hailed as one of the best in the international spy genre.
Born in Michigan and raised in California, Silva began working for UPI in 1984, covering the San Francisco Democratic National Convention. That job took him to Washington, Cairo, and the Persian Gulf.
It was the year after he and his wife had twins, 1995, that he decided to become a novelist.
