Cornelia Read

Being obsessed with creepy ancestors has opened a door to mystery writing for Cornelia Read. She fictionalized facts to create a beautifully crafted and written thriller for her debut novel.

Cornelia Read photo used with permissionBorn on Oyster Bay and raised near Big Sur, she describes herself as a WASP from old money raised by pinko hippie parents. She did attend boarding school on a full scholarship and still has an appreciation (one laced heavily with guilt) for high culture.

After being laid off at a dotcom, Read turned to writing and joined a crime fiction writing group. She decided to write her first story based on an event in her life that appears almost identically in the novel-her father-in-law telling her about dog tags he found that might have been related to an unsolved double murder.

Read currently lives in Berkeley, California with her husband and twin daughters.
