Anna Quindlen

The world first got to know Anna Quindlen, a Pulitzer Prize winning writer, through her work as a reporter and a columnist. She started out her career at the New York Post in 1974, staying there for three years before going to work for the New York Times. In 1999, Newsweek began running her as a columnist.
But fiction was always her first love, according to interviews with Book magazine. Her first novel became a bestseller and won a Times notable book of the year in 1991. She then left the Times in 1998 to pursue fiction as a full-time career.
Quindlen was born July 8, 1952 in Pennsylvania.
