James Patterson
James Patterson is a household name among readers today. His mystery/thriller books (of which he has written more than 20) consistently hit everyone's bestseller lists and have been made into major movies starring such actors as Morgan Freeman.
Unlike most prolific bestselling writers, though, Patterson long kept his day job while producing novel after novel. He was CEO for J. Walter Thompson ad agency, creating such well-known slogans as "I'm a Toys 'R' Us Kid" and even handling the publicity and advertising for Along Came a Spider.
