Cesar Millan
Cesar Millan is more than a man he's a corporation. It's what happens to a guy who can whisper to man's best friend and one of America's great obsessions.
Millan, the star of the National Geographic Channel series, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, and his partners formed a corporation-Cesar Millan, Inc. to manage all the projects coming out of his popular series. The projects have included international syndication of his series, a DVD of Cesar's live seminars, a web column, and the bestselling book, Cesar's Way.
Millan partnered with Melissa Jo Peltier to produce the book, a book that focuses on how to turn troubled dogs into happy, well-behaved ones. It's been the focus of his series and life work as well: taking problem dogs and rehabilitating them. It's work that the Humane Society has recognized with a Genesis Award Commendation.
As one of the most sought-after experts in the field of dog training, Millan spends as much time retraining dog owners to be pack leaders as he does changing the dogs. He encourages them to treat dogs like dogs, not like humans. He says they need exercise, discipline, and love in that order.
Millan was born in Mexico in 1969 during a hurricane and spent much of his childhood on his grandfather's ranch hanging out with a pack of dogs. He first came to the United States because he wanted to be a dog trainer-something he'd become impressed with television canine stars and their trainers.
He began work as a dog groomer and now has his own Dog Psychology Center in Los Angeles where he helps owners who are having a crisis with their dog's behaviors. He's appeared on Oprah Winfrey and has helped such celebrity pet owners as Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Nicolas Cage, Hillary Duff, Ridley Scott, and Dennis Rodman.
