Laurie King
Laurie King may very well be the Dorothy
Sayers of our generation. She's intelligent, creates fascinating characters, easily switches between academic and populist voice, and writes with a charm that hooks her readers. She even has a pair of famed lovers ala Wimsey and Vane in her Holmes and Russell books. She's
also a highly courageous writer who is able to tackle difficult topics with sensitivity and intelligence.
King is from San Francisco and has an eclectic and thorough educational background that includes religious studies and Old Testament theology. She's won a plethora of awards including an Edgar Award, an Agatha Award, an ALA Notable Young Adult Award, a Nero Wolfe Award, and a McCavity Award, among others.
She is best known for her Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes novels and her Kate Martinelli series, but she has also written a number of stand-alone books.
