Arthur Golden

Arthur Golden quickly caught the attention of critics with the publication of his first novel, Memoirs of a Geisha. It was a book that flowed naturally for this Harvard-educated writer who earned a degree in art history, specializing in Japanese art. He's also earned advanced degrees in Japanese history and English from Columbia and Boston University.
Golden also spent time working for an English language magazine in Tokyo and Beijing. He said it was his fascination with the Japanese language that first drew him into their art and culture.” This fascination led him through ten years of research preceding the publication of his first novel.
Golden, who was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, now lives in Brookline, Massachusetts with his wife and two children.
