Alan Dean Foster
Alan Dean Foster is the
creator of science fiction stories well-known even beyond the realms of
sci-fi/fantasy fandom. He's the author of numerous short stories, novels,
film novelizations, and articles. His writing has crossed genres into westerns,
fantasy, horror, historical fiction, detective stories, contemporary fiction,
and scripts for radio, computer games, and movies. His more famous work
includes the novel versions of Alien, Star
Wars, and Alien Nation.
Born in 1946, Foster graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's and a master's of fine arts. His life and list of hobbies are as eclectic as his writing: white-water rafting, rappelling, traveling, photography, camping, basketball, hiking, scuba diving, and weight-lifting.
