Dan Brown

Born in New Hampshire in 1964, Dan Brown wrote the book that everyone was talking about in 2003. His fourth novel, The Da Vinci Code, was hailed for its twists, turns, and out-and-out good plotting. Yet, he is not a one-book wonder. In early 2004, all four of his books were on the New York Times bestseller list during the same week.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Brown taught English at Phillips Exeter Academy in Amherst-the university at which he received his bachelor's. He also earned a master's degree at the University of Seville in Spain.

Brown is the son of an award-winning math professor and a professional sacred musician-a combination which he credits for providing him the perspectives explored in his novels. He is now working on a new series of "symbology thrillers" featuring the Harvard iconography and religious arts professor, Robert Langdon.

His wife, Blythe, collaborates with him on his research. She is an art historian and painter.
