Mary Azarian
Mary Azarian is a Vermont artist who specializes in woodcuts. She's illustrated more than 40 books, one of which earned her a Caldecott award. She lives on a small hill farm where she keeps a variety of large and small livestock. She also makes maple syrup.
Her studio houses a 19th Century press on which she prints her wood cuts. She has experimented with adding water-based paints and hand coloring all of her prints. She also does hand pressing of black and white artwork on Japanese paper.
